Mrs. Asegedech (Assi) WoldeMariam, originally from Ethiopia, spent approximately 35 years outside of the country obtaining an advanced degree in Macro-economic from Syracuse University, New York, US and working for the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC, US for 28 years as a Macro-Economists. Assi was always interested in fashion inspired by her mother who taught her how to sew and knit. She has turned what was initially a hobby into a professional business, merging her artistic creativity, her knowledge of business and finance and her mission to inspire and empower young women to follow their dreams and desires, by creating Assi's Gallery, which is not just a quality jewelry and fashion design store, but a movement. This is a place where ancient Ethiopian culture is merged with new concepts, where young women can learn entrepreneurial skills and where Ethiopian Designs can rival any of the big European design galleries Assi opened her first gallery in 2012 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
