Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying its good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation thats least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state theyre comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.

5.1 Pendahuluan
Di bab ini, kita memperluas model perdagangan ke dua arah penting.
Pertama, Kita telah melihat pada bab-bab sebelumnya bahwa perbedaan harga komoditas relatif antara dua
negara adalah bukti keunggulan komparatif mereka dan membentuk ladasan untuk perdagangan yang saling
menguntungkan.
Kedua, Untuk memperluas model Perdagangan kita adalah dengan menganalisis pengaruh perdagangan
international terhadap pendapatan dari faktor produksi di kedua negara yang terlihat perdagangan. Artinya, kita
ingin menguji pengaruh perdagangan International terhadap pendapatan tenaga kerja dan perbedaan
pendapatan international.
2. 5.2 Asumsi Teori
Teori Hackscher Ohlin didasarkan pada sejumlah asumsi dengan tujuan menyederhanakan
(sebagian dibuat hanya secara impsit oleh Hackscher dan Ohlin). Dibandingkan menjelaskan setiap
asumsi sepanjang pembahasan seperti yang diperlukan dalam analisis, maka akan sangat masuk akal
dan lebih nyaman untuk menyajikan mereka bersama-sama dan menjelaskan maknanya pada saat
ini. Hal ini tidak hanya memungkinkan kita untuk melihat teori yang akan disajikan dalam perspektif
yang lebih baik, tetapi juga akan membuat presentasi lebih lancar dan lebih langsung pada intinya.
Untuk membuat teori lebih realistis. Kita akan menyederhanakan asumsi-asumsi ini dalam bab
berikutnya dan menguji pengaruh penyederhanaan tersebut pada kesimpulan yang dicapai.
3. 5.2A ASUMSI
Teori Heckscher Ohlin didasarkan pada asumsi sebagai berikut :
1. Ada 2 negara (Negara 1 dan 2) 2 komoditas (komoditas X dan komoditas Y) dan 2 faktor produksi (tenaga kerja dan modal).
2. Kedua negara menggunakan teknologi yang sama dalam produksi.
3. Komoditas X adalah padat karya, dan komoditas Y adalah padat modal di kedua negara.
4. Kedua komoditas yang diproduksi diukur dalam skala hasil konstan.
5. Ada spesialisasi tidak menyeluruh dalam produksi dikedua negara
6. Selera yang sama dikedua negara.
7. Ada persaingan sempurna dikedua komoditas dan pasar faktor produksi di kedua negara.
8. Ada mobilitas faktor yang sempurna didalam setiap negara, tetapi tidak ada mobilitas faktor produksi secara international.
9. Tidak ada biaya transportasi, tarif, atau penghalang lain untuk arus bebas perdagangan international
10. Semua sumber daya sepenuhnya digunakan di kedua negara.
11. Perdagangan international antara 2 negara seimbang.
4. Dalam dunia dua komoditas (X dan Y) dan dua faktor (tenaga kerja dan modal). kita mengatakan
bahwa komoditas Y adalah padat modaI-tenaga kerja (K/L) yang digunakan dalam produk X,Misalnya jika
dua unit modal (2k) dan dua unit tenaga kerja (2L) yang dibutuhkan untuk memproduksi satu untuk
komunitas Y. Rasio modal tenaga kerja adalah satu. Artinya, 2/2 dalam produksi Y, jika pada waktu yang
sama 1K dan 4L. dibutuhkan untuk memproduksi satu unit X. K/L =1/4 untuk komoditas X Karena K/L = 1
untuk Y dan K/L : 1/4 untuk X,kita mengatakan bahwa Y adalah K Intensif dan X adalah L intensif.

5. Menurut definisi dalam hal unit fisik, negara 2 memiliki modal yang berlimpah jika rasio dari jumlah total
modal dengan jumlah total tenaga kerja (TK/TL) tersedia di negara 2 lebih besar dari pada di negara 1 (yaitu
jika TK/TL untuk negara 2 melebihi TK/TL untuk negara 1).
Menurut definisi dari segi harga faktor produksi, negara 2 merupakan negara dengan modal yang
berlimpah jika rasio harga sewa modal dengan harga waktu kerja (PK/PL ) lebih rendah di negara 2
dibandingkan negara 1 (yaitu jika PK/PL di negara 2 lehih kecil dari PK/PL di negara 1).
5.3B Kelimpahan Faktor Produksi
6. Karena negara 2 adalah negara K-berlimpah dan komoditasY adalah komoditas K-intensif, Negara 2 dapat
menghasilkan relatif lebih banyak komoditas Y dari negara 1. Dari sisi lain, karena negara 1 adalah negara dengan L-
berlimpah dan komoditas X adalah komoditas L-intensif, negara 1 dapat menghasilkan relatif lebih banyak komoditas X
dari pada negara 2. Ini memberikan garis batas produksi untuk Negara 1 yang relatif datar dan lebih lebar dari garis
batas produksi negara 2 (jika kita mengukur X sepanjang sumbu Horizontal).
5.3C Kelimpahan Faktor Produksi dan Bentuk Garis Batas Produksi
Pada gambar dibawah kita telah meletakan garis batas produksi negara 1 dan negara 2 pada satu bidang sumbu grafik, yang
sama ( ini adalah batas produksi yang sama dengan yang diperlihatkan).
7. Pembagian sumber daya bawaan dunia yaitu terdiri atas modal, tenaga kerja terampil, dan tenaga
kerja tidak terampil di negara dan wilayah pada tahun 1993, Tabel tersebut memperlihatkan bahwa Amerika
Serikat memiliki 20,8% modal dunia, 19,4% pekerja terampil dan 2,6 % pekerja tidak terampil dunia. Jumlah ini
merupakan 5,6% jumlah sumber daya dunia dalam faktor-faktor produksi tersebut. Karena AS mempunyai
jumlah bagian relatif modal dan tenaga kerja yang terampil lebih besar dari masing-masing 20,8% dan 19,4%
dibandingkan dengan 5,6% sumber daya dunia yang terdiri atas gabungan modal, tenaga kerja terampil dan
tenaga kerja tidak terampil, kita bisa katakan bahwa AS memiliki keunggulan komperatif dalam komoditas
yang bersifat modal intensif , tenaga kerja terampil yang intensif, dan kelemahan komperatif pada komoditas
yang intensif dalam tenaga kerja tidak terampil, situasi ini sama dengan negara-negara Industri lain.

8. 5.4 Faktor Bawaan dan Teori Heckscher Ohlin
Kita hanya akan membahas pada penelitian Ohlin karena di dalamnya sudah mencakup
penelitian Heckscher dan lebih banyak lagi. Namun, karena esensi dari model ini pertama kali
diperkenalkan oleh Heckscher, maka penghargaan diberikan kepadanya dengan memberi nama teori ini
sebagai teori Heckscher Ohlin. Ohlin berbagi (dengan James Meade) hadiah Nobel tahun 1977 di bidang
ekonomi untuk karyanya dalam perdagangan internasional.
Teori Heckscher Ohlin (Heckscher-OI1lirz/H-O theory) dapat dijelaskan secara singkat dalam
bentuk dua teori-teori H-O (yang berkaitan dengan dan prediksi pola perdagangan) dan teori
penyamaan harga faktor produksi (yang berkaitan dengan pengaruh perdagangan intenasional terhadap
harga faktor produksi).
9. 5.4A Teorema Heckscher Ohlin
Dalam diskusi kita sebelumnya, ini berarti bahwa negara 1 akan mengekspor komoditas X karena
komoditas X adalah komoditas L-intensif (padat karya) dan L adalah faktor yang relatif berlimpah dan murah di negara
1. Disisi lain, negara 2 akan mengekspor komoditas Y karena komoditas Y adalah komoditas K-intensif (padat modal)
dan K adalah faktor yang relatif berlimpah dan murah di negara 2 (yaitu r/w lebih rendah di negara 2 dari pada di
negara 1). Dari semua kemungkinan alasan untuk perbedaan harga komoditas relatif dan keunggulan komparatif antar
negara, teori H-O mengisolasi perbedaan dalam kelimpahan faktor produksi relatif, atau faktor produksi bawaan antar
negara sebagai penyebab dasar atau penentu keunggulan.
Komparatif dan perdagangan intemasional. Untuk alasan ini, model H-O sering disebut sebagai faktor
produksi proporsi atau faktor produksi bawaan (factor-proportions or factor-endowment theary). Artinya, setiap
negara mengkhususkan diri dalam produksi dan ekspor komoditas yang intensif dalam faktor produksi yang relatif
berlimpah dan murah dan mengimpor komoditas yang intensif dalam faktor produksi yang relalif langka dan mahal.
10. Sifat ekuilibrium umum teori H-O dapat diviualisasikan dan dijelaskan dengan menggunakan gambar 5.3. Mulai dari sudut
kanan bawah diagram, kita melihat bahwa selera dan distribusi dalam kepemilikan faktor produksi (yaitu distribusi
pendapatan) bersama-sama menentukan permintaan untuk komoditas.
Pada gambar 5.3 menunjukkan dengan jelas bagaimana semua kekuatan ekonomi bersama-sama menentukan harga
komoditas akhir. Ini adalah apa yang dimaksud ketika kita mengatakan bahwa model H-O adalah model ekuilibrium umum.

Teori H-O diilustrasikan dalam gambar 5.4. Panel kiri dari gambar menunjukkan garis batas produksi negara 1 dan negara 2,
seperti pada gambar 5.2. Sebagaimana ditunjukkan daIam bagian 5.3C, garis batas produksi negara 1 melengkung mendekati
sumbu X karena komoditas X adalah komoditas L-intensif, negara 1 adalah negara dengan L-berlimpah, dan kedua negara
menggunakan teknologi yang sama. Selain itu, karena kedua negara memiliki selera yang sama, mereka menghadapi kurva
indiferen yang sama. Kurva indiferen 1 (yang sama untuk kedua negara) bersinggungan dengan garis batas pruduksi negara 1 dititik
A dan garis batas produksi negara 2 dititik A. Kurva indiferen 1 adalah kurva indiferen tertinggi yang dapat dicapai negara 1 dan
negara 2 dalam isolasi, dan titik A dan A mewakili titik ekuilibrium mereka dalam produksi dan konsumsi pada kondisi tidak ada
perdagangan, perhatikan bahwa meskipun kita asumsikan bahwa kedua negara memiliki selera (kurva indiferen) yang identik
Titik singgung kurva indiferen 1 di titik A dan A mende鍖nisikan kondisi di mana perdagangan tidak ada, atau autarki,
ekuilibrium harga komuditas relatif PA di negara 1 dan PA. di negara 2 (lihat gambar). Karena PA < PA, negara 1 memiliki keunggulan
komparatif dalam komoditas X, dan negara 2 memiliki keunggulan komparatif dalam komoditas Y.
12. Lebih umum dari model H-O pada gambar 5.4. Studi kasus pada gambar 5.3 membahas pola keunggulan dan kelemahan
komparatif yang terungkap dan berhagai negara atau wilayah, sedangkan studi kasus pada gambar 5.4 mengidenti鍖kasi faktor
intensitas serta unggulan dan kelemahan komperatif sebagai industri di Amerika Serikat.
13. 5.5 Penyeimbangan Harga Faktor Produksi dan Distribusi Pendapatan
Pada bagian ini, kita akan membahas mengenai teori penyeimbangan harga faktor produksi,
yang merupakan sebuah konsekuensi, karena rnengikuti Iangsung hasil teori H-O dan berlaku hanya
jika teori H-O berlaku. Paul Samuelson (peraih Nobel di bidang ekonomi pada tahun 1970) adalah tokoh
yang membuktikan teori penyeimbangan hargn faktor produksi (konsekuensi). Untuk alasan ini,
kadang- kadang teori ini disebut sebagai teurema Heckscher Ohlin Samuelson (teorema HOS).
5.5A Teorema Penyeimbangan Harga Faktor Produksi
Dimulai dengan asumsi yang diberikan di bagian 5.2A, kita dapat menyatakan teorema
penyeimbangan harga faktor produksi (factor price equalization theorem H-O-S theorem) sebagai
berikut. Perdagangan International akan membawa pememtaan dalam hasil relatif dan absolut untuk
faktor homogen di berbagai negara. Dengan demikian, perdagangan internasional adalah pengganti
mobilitas internasional dari faktor produksi.
14. 5.5B Penyeimbangan Harga Faktor Produksi Relatif dan Absolut
Kita dapat menunjukkan dengan gra鍖k bahwa harga faktor produksi relatif diseimbangkan
kedudukannya melalui perdagangan kedua negara (jika semua asumsi bagian 5.2A berlaku).
Pada gambar 5.5, harga relatif tenaga kerja (w/r) diukur sepanjang sumbu horizontal, dan harga
komoditas relatif X (Px/Py) diukur sepanjang sumbu vertikal. Karena setiap negara beroperasi dibawah persaingan
sempurna dan menggunakan teknologi yang sama, ada hubungan satu-satu antara titik-titik w/r dam Px/Py,
artinya, masing-masing rasio w/r dikaitkan dengan rasio Px/Py tertentu.
15. Sementara dibagian sebelumnya kita meneliti efek dari perdagangan internasional pada perbedaan
harga faktor produksi antara negara-negara. Dibagian ini kita menganalisis pengaruh perdagangan
internasional terhadap harga faktor produksi relatif dan pendapatan disetiap negara. Kedua pertanyaan ini
tentu terkait tetapi mereka tidak sama.
Karena di negara-negara maju ( misalnya, Amerika
Serikat,Jerman,Jepang,Prancis,Inggris,Italia,Kanada) faktor modal relatif berlimpah ( seperti dalam Negara 2),
perdagangan Internasional cenderung mengurangi pendapatan rill tenaga kerja dan meningkatkan
pendapatan rilll pemilik modal. Inilah sebabnya mengapa serikat buruh di negara-negara maju umumnya
mendukung pembatasan perdagangan. Di sisi lain, di Negara-negara kurang maju (misalnya, India
Mesir,Korea,Meksiko), tenaga kerja adalah faktor produksi yang cukup berlimpah, dan perdagangan
Internasional akan meningkatkan pendapatan rill tenaga kerja dan mengurangi pendapatan rill pemilik
modal.
