A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Voice and Tone in Photography -- Cedar F...Megan Oteri, MAn this photography and prose writing workshop, students will take digital photographs and write 1,000 words about their individual photo(s). Students will showcase their photos and writing in a digital art show. Students will learn how to follow their own inspiration to take photos of their choice. They will use the editorial process to select a photo that speaks to them. Students will learn how to file share and use Google Docs to upload and save their work (Preferred to have assistance from Technology Coordinator if possible). After students choose their photo or group of photos they wish to write about, they will create a 1,000 word prose piece on their photograph. Students will work collaboratively as a team to create a classroom art gallery where they display their work in an art gallery. Optional: Students will create a gallery opening to display their photos and written work.

Imagination and risk-taking are encouraged with the idea that there are no wrong answers in a creative task. Students are instructed to take photos, choose one that speaks to them, and create their own writing prompt from the image.
