The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is the world's oldest and largest global environmental network, with over 1,200 government and NGO members in more than 160 countries. IUCN's mission is to influence societies to conserve nature and ensure sustainable use of natural resources. To increase outreach, IUCN ran an essay contest on Facebook that received 160 entries, over 24,000 votes, and nearly 7,000 registrations, growing IUCN's fan base by 100% and generating over 2 million impressions.
