Two Jamaican men decided to start the country's first bobsleigh team despite Jamaica having no snow or winter sports tradition. They struggled to find funding and equipment and faced criticism from other athletes. Through perseverance and coaching, they were able to qualify for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Canada, where they crashed but were praised for their courage in competing.

Jamaica is a country which is hot and sunny nearly all year. It has no snow. However, in 1987, two Jamaicans decided to start a bobsleigh team . Bobsleighing is a sport that takes place on Ice.
They had a lot of problems at the start. The people in the bobsleigh team had never seen snow, and there was little money for equipment . When the team started training , they crashed again and again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yAeLtIDBJI
They needed to raise money in order to take part in 1998 Winter Olympics in Canada. They tried to get people to donate, but Jamaicans thought that a bobsleigh team was a stupid idea. Jamaica had lots of athletes but never bobsleighers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCjiHb6QSdk&feature=related
