Introduction
It is one of the important fruit of Nepal
Fruit: Balausta
Chromosome no: 2n=16 or 18
Uses
The juice of pomegranate is cooling, refreshing and
useful against leprosy.
Bark and rind carry medicinal properties against
dysentery and diarrhoea
Carbohydrates:14.5 %
Protein: 1.6%
And a fair amount of phosphorus, riboflavin, vitamin C.

Origin: Iran
Area and distribution
Major producer are Iran, Afganistan, Pakistan,
India, Myanmar, China, Japan, Egypt, Spain,
Morocoo etc.
In Nepal, Dhankuta, Dhading, Gorkha, Salyan and
Dadeldhura etc.
Dadeldhura districts has the maximum area under
cultivation
