- 1. Welcome to Brookview! The Related Arts Team
- 2. Kindergarten, First and Second grades = 30 minutes Third, Fourth and Fifth grades = 45 minutes We meet with each class 2 times in a six-day cycle. Physical Education Mrs. Jamie Seiler and Mrs. Carrie Arp
- 3. A typical day would look like: Fitness stations Play an energizer game Skill work Game or activity will be played utilizing the skills learned Closure
- 4. K-5 Art Amanda Olberding Students attend Art once per 6-day cycle for 45 minutes. All art projects are derived from one or more of the following: Elements of Art Principals of Design Subject Area Integration Contemporary and Traditional Artists
- 5. Art Portfolios Students will keep all of their artwork in a portfolio during the year. ! Students are able to see growth from the beginning of the year to the end. ! All students will take their art portfolios home sometime during the last 2 cycles of the school year. ! Take time to go through all of their masterpieces!

- 7. Grades 1-5 oil pastel foam board printing chalk pastel paper mache charcoal weaving
- 8. Meet the Music Department! Rebecca Meyer, 5th Grade Band Ann Swenson, Grades 1-5 General Music and 5th Grade Chorus Nella Thomas, Kindergarten General Music
- 9. Time for Music! General Music meets two times per cycle for 30 minutes. 油All students participate in General Music. 5th Grade Chorus meets one time per cycle for 45 minutes. 油5th Grade Band meets two times per cycle for 45 minutes.油 Both are optional. Students do not miss instructional time or recess when they participate in chorus or band. Students in band will also have a group lesson once per cycle.

Performance Dates to Note Kindergarten: May 5th, 6:00 and 7:00 PM BV Gym First Grade: April 28th, 6:00 and 7:00 PM BV Gym Second Grade: March 3rd, 6:30 PM BV Gym Third Grade: February 18th, 6:30 PM HS Auditorium Fourth Grade: November 23rd, 6:30 PM HS Auditorium Fifth Grade: April 14th, 6:30 PM HS Auditorum Fifth Grade Chorus and Band: December 22nd and tentatively May 26th (during the school day)

Technology Standards and Benchmarks Demonstrates an understanding of the nature and operation of technology systems Demonstrates responsible and ethical use of technology systems, information, and software (copyright, digital citizenship, etc.) Uses hardware and productivity tools for a variety of purposes Demonstrates digital literacy skills
- 17. Technology Skills Keyboarding taught formally in grades 3-5 Coding - using block programming K-5 Word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, video & audio production, web navigation & effective search skills Internet safety Positive online social and ethical behaviors Multimedia projects

Curriculum K-2: Fixed schedule (see each class once a cycle) 40 minute class (30 lesson/10 minute check out) 3-5: Flex schedule (teachers sign up for check out times/ collaborate according to classroom curriculum) Open Library Mornings from 8:35-9:05 Students check in with classroom teacher and get permission to visit the library
- 21. Expectations Kindergarten checks one book out Grades 1-5 check two books out Extra book on birthday 3-5 get to check out extra books to help with research projects Books are due six school days later Books can be renewed for six more days
