In December 2014 accredited as auditor of the Indonesian PEFC/IFCC audit scheme for sustainable forest management. 2011 March: certification work on temporary contracts. 2011 Feb May Collaboration with the Foundation for Social Forestry (YPSBK) in Sanggau, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, for the preparation and conduct of a study to evaluate the development of farm forestry in Sanggau and Sekadau,including identification of factors that influence decision-making at farm level in a situation of de facto national and local policy vacuum, and recommendations aiming at enhancing efficiency, productivity and sustainable livelihood 2010 October Pre-certification (legal origin) of the forest operations of a large pulp and paper company in Indonesia 2008 (Jul) to 2010 (June) Project Leader, Aceh Forest and Environment Project (AFEP) funded by Multi Donor Fund after the 2004 tsunami and supervisedby World Bank; The project was implemented by the Leuser International Foundation, an NGO established in 1996 for the management of the Leuser Ecosystem. In spite of strong support from district governments and the Department of Home Affairs the project concept was not followed up due to unresolved questions on land use rights. (The Ministry of Forestry have since UNDP prepared a follow-up, apparently with limited progress so far). 2003 (January, February) Proposal writing for GFA Terra and for own team of consultants, for projects on management of watersheds and degraded lands 2000 (October) to 2002 (September) GFA-Terra, Hamburg for GTZ, Team Leader for Social Forestry Development Project, in Sanggau, West Kalimantan, with the objective of developing a model for social forestry (in this case management of natural forest as well as rubber gardens and other lands) by Dayak communities, as groups or individuals, in accordance with traditional patterns within the regional and national context, including legal/regulatory, land management, institutional and technical aspects. Team development, operational planning, budget control and accounting, supervision and guidance of consultants and contacts/negotiations with authorities. The project worked with the communities in a 100.000 ha large forest area with the development of the related technical, organizational andregulatory systems and interacted with regional and national authoritie s to provide guidance in the formulation of a regulatory framework and in policy making. (I came back in September 2000 for follow-up work. (ADB August 1979) - Thailand Northern Rural Development Project, estimates of plantation costs, labour consumption and investment costs (World Bank July-August 1978). - Review of forestry aspects of the transmigration Programme, Indonesia (World Bank October- November 1979). In retro-respect I am pleased to say that my report made the WB review selection criteria for the transmigration programme, aiming at sparing primary forest areas. - Design of the Forestry component of an integratedrural development project in Palawan, the Philippines, ADB and the French consulting firm SATEC (June -August 1980). The component included identification of forest areas in need of protection, strengthening of the local office es of the forest service for more efficient watershed protection and protection against uncontrolled logging in areas identified as ecologically significant, and the establishment of plantations for watershed protection and fuelwood production purposes. 1976 (January) to 1977 (September) SWEDISH MATCH (PHILIPPINES)/PROVIDENT TREE FARMS Forestry Specialist and Assistant to the Managing Director Surveys and special studies on logging concessions in Indonesia and logging and plantation operations in the Philippines (Samar, Mindoro, Agusan Valley in Mindanao).
