The twins were born at 37 weeks gestation, with one weighing 5lbs 12oz and the other 4lbs 10oz. Though considered full term, they stayed in the hospital's special care unit for two days due to low blood sugars. The March for Babies organization educated the mother during her pregnancy about preventing premature labor, birth defects, and low birth weight, which helped ensure her children avoided health issues. Now 4 years old, the twins will start preschool in August. The author encourages participating in or donating to the March for Babies to help the over 460,000 babies born prematurely each year.
