Virtual reality uses head-mounted displays to simulate a user's physical presence in an imaginary world. Google Cardboard is an inexpensive VR platform that works with smartphones, using cardboard frames with lenses and magnets to hold phones and allow users to view VR content through dedicated apps. It has been popular among developers and allows users to view locations in Street View and Earth, 360-degree videos on YouTube, and play games through their Android or iOS devices.
