The document discusses how the digital revolution has changed how and where people work through greater mobility and access to information anytime and anywhere. It proposes that regional areas in Queensland can benefit from the rise of knowledge workers or "anywhere workers" through the establishment of digital work hubs. These hubs would provide coworking spaces, meeting rooms, and technology to allow knowledge workers to live and work remotely from urban areas like Brisbane. The document outlines a collaborative project between several regional development areas in Southeast Queensland to establish such digital work hubs.

Editor's Notes
Welcome to guests – Include any politicians or notable people
The Digital Revolution is changing every aspect of our lives
This has positive and negative effects
One notable positive for regional Queensland is that digital access allows people to choose where they want to work
Regionalisation through mobilisation is just starting – Once the infrastructure is in place people will be able to work from anywhere
The worlds population is increasing but the population with access to digital systems is not even yet at the half way mark
Access to digital data is now the big issue
New ways of accessing data are coming online
Mobilisation if data access is everything
Wearable technology is now the area offering the greatest change
This is a slide from the Xero AGM held early in July this year
The CEO of Xero Rod Dury used this to illustrate what is happening
The Knowledge worker is a major user of data and digital systems
The Knowledge worker is the true Anywhere Worker
They have the ability to work from anywhere at anytime – As long as they have access to data
The 4th Utility! – A report by the Federation of Small Businesses in in the UK
Everything is moving to a mobile platform
That also means everything is moving to a ‘Cloud Based’ data storage environment
All the signs are that these global megatrends are actually accelerating
The is a real opportunity for Regional Queensland
If access to data can be developed then regional areas offer lifestyle opportunities that will truly attract the Anywhere Worker
Access to Digital Data is now a key part of the regional mobilisation equation
With data the anywhere worker won’t event consider the location
Councils and can partners with private companies to accelerate access – this should be dome as a matter of priority
“The Chattanooga” example – The Gigabit Town Club (VW, Microsoft)
The Anywhere work can work anywhere they have digital data access however they will choose the location based on the activity they need to perform
This move to an active Work Model is well documented
Many companies have been moving this way for some time
We reviewed this in many locations to look at a model that would work in regional and peri-urban Qld
