Director of Marketing/Communications/Public Relations
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership for HOBY KY’s communication and outreach efforts; provides development
and coordination of communication strategies and activities; and oversees and/or provides for
the production of external publications, marketing materials, and presentations. Conducts
market research to evaluate and guide marketing campaign strategies and successful
implementation plans.
Reports to: HOBY KY Corporate Board and Leadership Seminar Chair
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
-Reports to the LSC and Corporate Board PR person.
-Provides central leadership and coordination of all HOBY KY’s communication activities.
-Responsible for message and campaign development for various service/community strategies
and social marketing campaigns.
-Provides direction and executes work for communication activities.
-Directs design and oversees content coordination for HOBY KY public website, Twitter,
Facebook and LinkedIn, etc., ensuring strong brand representation. Usability, appeal and
content accuracy/updates.
-Develops evaluation of effectiveness and impact of HOBY KY communications activity toward
the accomplishment of goals.
-Ensures pertinent information is disseminated to appropriate volunteers and ambassadors.
-Develop, edit and provide content for quarterly e-newsletter delivered to volunteers and alumni.
-Research, develop and maintain professional relationships with local and regional print, TV and
radio outlets.
-Provide input for marketing and public relations efforts for all special events.
-Develop components of HOBY KY budget related to communication/marketing/outreach
activity.
-Writes and edits communication materials such as the seminar program book, case statements
for fundraising, brochures, campaign materials and letter templates.
-Cultivate and strengthen relationships with the public including, but not limited to, social media,
newsletters, TV, radio, and newspapers.
-Submits press releases, public service announcements, and other news information, including
photographs, to appropriate outlets.
-Ensures that all released products (e.g. t-shirts, program books) are in compliance with
International regulations, provides approval.
-Provide supervision, guidance and support to onsite seminar Media/Communications Team
who are responsible for marketing, advertising, media relations, electronic/print
communications, design, publications and digital marketing, including email and social media
during the seminar.
-Coming up with a long-term public outreach plan for the HOBY Kentucky Organization
-Finding new ways to effectively advertise the HOBY Kentucky Brand.
-Working with the HOBY Kentucky Corporate Board, Leadership Seminar Team, Director of
Fundraising, Director of Recruitment, and other HOBY Kentucky teams, as a bridge between
HOBY Kentucky and the public.
-Keeping the webpage up to date
-Track and analyze number of visits to HOBY KY’s website and Facebook page with goal to
provide input on how to increase visibility of HOBY KY’s website and Facebook page.
-Being sufficiently versed in purpose of HOBY Kentucky and International
In conclusion, all I ask is that we do not send out mass emails/mail outs or release documents
to anyone before seeking group input. Or seeking input from Public Relations. We cannot
underutilize this important role. I don’t want to be nosy or read any personal emails. However, I
do think it’s necessary that any mass emails/mail outs/ documents are peer-reviewed and
revised as needed.
Lastly, any mass emails sent out shall be sent through the hobyky.org email account. In your
email, when using this account, please put your contact information for the recipient—for further
inquiries. Any responses received will either be answered or forwarded to whomever it is
directed to.
