In recent times, scholars have persistently appealed to the virtue ethics of Aristotle in an attempt to forge a sustainable basis for values education that has both philosophical integrity and practical application (see Carr, 2008, Kristjánsson, 2007). This renewed interest in Aristotle is to be found amidst a rekindled interest by philosophy during the second half of the twentieth century in the interaction between reason and emotion, particularly in relation to moral judgements, and the consequent need for the education of those emotions (see Carr, 2009, Carr, 2010). This interest by the philosophical community in the combined role of reason and emotion in moral judgements is paralleled by an interest in the relationship between cognition and emotion to be found in the psychological and neurobiological sciences. Educational psychologists (see Ainley, 2006, Boekaerts, 1993, Ryan, 2007, Schutz and Pekrun, 2007) have recognized that motivation and engagement in schoolwork is more than a function of cognition and is dependent upon the affective dimension as well. Recent research findings in the neurobiological sciences (Damasio, 2003, Damasio and Damasio, 2007, Immordino-Yang and Damasio, 2007) have further focussed the attention of educators on the interaction of cognition and emotion.
Research findings of this sort are causing educationists to re-think many of their assumptions about a range of developmental issues, including that of learning itself. The taxonomic notion that cognitive learning outcomes are separable from affective or social ones comes to be seen as inadequate. The idea that learning can be achieved through mastery instruction and testing, without reference to the physical, emotional and social ambience within which the learning is occurring, nor moreover to the levels of confidence and self-esteem of the learner, is similarly seen as potentially an obstruction rather than facilitation of learning. Such findings point to the need for new pedagogy that engages the whole person rather than just the cognitive person.

Blind Spots in AI and Formulation Science Knowledge Pyramid (Updated Perspect...Ajaz Hussain
Ìý
This presentation delves into the systemic blind spots within pharmaceutical science and regulatory systems, emphasizing the significance of "inactive ingredients" and their influence on therapeutic equivalence. These blind spots, indicative of normalized systemic failures, go beyond mere chance occurrences and are ingrained deeply enough to compromise decision-making processes and erode trust.
Historical instances like the 1938 FD&C Act and the Generic Drug Scandals underscore how crisis-triggered reforms often fail to address the fundamental issues, perpetuating inefficiencies and hazards.
The narrative advocates a shift from reactive crisis management to proactive, adaptable systems prioritizing continuous enhancement. Key hurdles involve challenging outdated assumptions regarding bioavailability, inadequately funded research ventures, and the impact of vague language in regulatory frameworks.
The rise of large language models (LLMs) presents promising solutions, albeit with accompanying risks necessitating thorough validation and seamless integration.
Tackling these blind spots demands a holistic approach, embracing adaptive learning and a steadfast commitment to self-improvement. By nurturing curiosity, refining regulatory terminology, and judiciously harnessing new technologies, the pharmaceutical sector can progress towards better public health service delivery and ensure the safety, efficacy, and real-world impact of drug products.
