The US Department of State announced that effective immediately, the DS-160 form must be used instead of prior forms for all K visa applications including fianc辿 and spouse visas. The DS-160 replaces the DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-230 forms for K-1 and K-2 visas which can only be processed at visa-processing posts. Consular officers may accept the DS-160 right away but it will become mandatory for applications received more than a week after the announcement. Exceptions apply for cases already scheduled or pending additional documentation. Applicants whose prior forms are still valid generally should not need to submit the DS-160.
