- 1. From the 13th of February 2017- 18th of February the actual show was taking place. For this I had to do the makeup for certain characters. We mainlyconsistedof doingupthe male castas theyneededhelpdoingthere'ssothiswould consistof a foundationbase andsettingitwithpowder,thiswouldbe done forall the castbut the girlswere more capable of doingitthemselvesandthisreallyhelpedustosave time. For Billyand Michael a foundationbase andpowderwasthe onlymakeupusedonthem, thisjust made themseemtheyhada more brighterskinandlooksmore flawlessinaway. For the oldercast memberssuchas Dad,Scab, George,theyhadthe same base andthenwe added wrinkle featurestomake themlookolder.Todothiswe useda darkerface paintto achieve the lines inthe certainarease.g.top of forehead,aroundthe nose andmouthand cornersof theireyes. Because the linesfirstappearedquite harshwe thenblendedthemoutwithasponge tocomplete the look.I thinkthe wrinkle looks wentreallywellforall of usand we achievedsome greatlooks. Thisimage to the leftshowsme doingScabsmakeup,sohismakeup consistedof a base andsome wrinkles.Tothe leftIam showndoinghis foundationbase,soIuseda Grimas cake-makeupin the shade of B2 as his skinwasquite pale soI didntwantto make himtoo orange and make sure his skintone matched.To use thisfoundationIfounditwaseasiertospray itwith waterbefore use tohelpmake iteasiertoapplyto the skinand it would be a lotsmoother.Ialso useda cleansponge toapplyitto the face as I foundthis was the easiestandquickestwaytodoit, italsomade itnot roughfor the cast member.Usinga cleansponge isveryimportantasit isa healthand safetyaspect. Soafteruse I wouldmake sure the sponge wouldbe cleaned. The image to the right thenshowsafterI have appliedthe wrinklesto thiscast memberandhowI thenuse anothersponge to blendthemout and make themnotlookas harsh e.g.like hisforeheadwrinklestheyare verydark and haventbeenblendedyet.TodothisI justuse another sponge andlightlyblendandwipe overthe linesinorderforthemto fade out slightly.If the linessmudgeIwouldthen use the foundation sponge tocover anymarks I had made.To finishitIwouldthengoover withsome powdertosetthe lines.We hadto ask the modelstosmile or raise theireyebrowsinordertofindtheirwrinklelines. Thiswasnttoo time consumingandcouldbe done quicklyandtooa good standard. The Show

For me and Megan we alsohad to use thistechnique with Grandma but to more of an extreme asobviouslyshe was the oldestmemberof the cast,so she neededtohave more wrinklesandotherfeaturestomake herbecome more like hercharacter. So withthe foundationswe usedalightB2 and a greyface paintinorderto create a more worn/grey tone for herface,afterthiswe thenused the same techniquestodraw the wrinkleson.Tomake herlook older I addeda white paintthroughhereyebrowsandonher eyelashestoaddto the effect.Tofinishthe lookwe puther hair intoa low bunand thensprayeditgreyto complete it.In my opinionIthinkdoinghermakeupwasthe bestof our work. Otherpeople we hadtodo was the balletgirls,forthiswe justneededtoadda pinkeyeshadow and blushertotheirlookas we made sure theydidtheirownfoundationbeforehand,likeeveryoneelse, inorder to save time forourselves.Thiswasquite aneasyandquicktaskand didnttake toomuch time to do.However,one of the balletgirl didntinformanyof the makeupteamthat she had allergiestoourmakeupduringthe firstdressrehearsal,which cause ourfirstproblem.Inorderto tackle thiswe askedherto bringher ownmakeupinthat shesable touse inthe correctcoloursand that we couldthenuse that for herduringthe rest of the performances,whichtherefore became successful forthe restof the week. Duringthe showwe did have a lotof makeupchangesduringthe firstact comparedtothe second. Afterthe firstscene we needtoquicklychange some of the minersmakeupintopolice officers.So thisinvolvedwaitingwithmakeupwipesassoonas theycame off to handto themto wipe the coal makeupoff,andthenquicklygoback overwithfoundationandpowderandif time some light wrinkles.The wholemakeupteamknewthiswouldbe aquickchange sowe were all readytoattend to one of themas fastas possible. Anotherbigmakeupchange wasforexpressingyourselfwhich involvedthe crossdressingmakeup.Soboysneededtoputbrightpinklipstickandthe girlsneeded to have dark beards.Because there were alotmore girlsinthe cast we made the boysdo theirown lipstick,unlesstheyreallystruggled,asthishelpedwithtime andeverythingwasdone faster.Todo the beardswe usedeitherblackor darkbrownface paintsanduseda powderbrushto dab intothe productand thenonto theirface creatinga beardaroundtheirchinarea. On the firstshow we had some problemswithsome of the girlsnotwantingtohave thisdone or onlyhavinga small amount whichmade itlessvisible onthe stage.However,theyneeded tohave whatwere told togive them so luckilythisproblemdidnthappenduringthe restof the shows. In the interval we alwaysjusthadtogo oversome makeupas ithad beensweatedoff,sothis wouldnttake toomuchtime and made the makeuplookbetterforthe second half. Duringthe whole shows,one of ourmainproblemswascoveringthe mics.Duringthe firstdress rehearsalswe were toldthatthe white partsonthe plasterswere quite visiblesothereforeforthe nextshowwe knewwe neededtotrycoverit as muchas possible withfoundationinorderforitto lookmore realisticonstage.However,comingneartothe lastfew shows,we ranout of the plasters and see throughtape so hadto use skincolouredtape,whichwe obviouslycouldntreallycoverasit was a fabricmaterial,buttheywerenttoovisible onstage astheywere skincoloured. Overall Ithinkall the makeupwentreallywell,theyall lookedhow plannedandwe managedtoget everyone done inthe time scheduleswe had.Alsoall healthyandsafetyaspectswere kept throughoute.g.cleaningmakeupbrushesevery nightandallergiesetc.
