Introducing EX_AM Portal
• Many still rely on spreadsheets and emails as their
management tools leading to many hours wasted today in
the education sector
• EX-AM ‘Portal’ is a single application designed to help
awarding bodies manage the examination process
decreasing duplication, increasing productivity and saving
valuable resources
• It allows users to store questions, create question papers,
carry out marking allocation, standardisation, moderation
and online paper marking
• It allows the management of external resources, allowing
unlimited question analysis, region analysis, marker
analysis, all easily accessible from one central location
Navigation
• Navigation menu is designed to reflect Microsoft
platforms as standard
• This ensures new users are familiar with the
system from the first time they login
• The menu options are customised to each user
role ensuring each user can access the relevant
areas
• A simple click on any heading will open the sub-
menu which is clear to interpret
Dashboard
• The Dashboard is the main screen for all
administrators
• Its made up of a series of measures detailing at a
glance the various stages of capacity and paper
marking allocation
• It also provides an overview of all user roles in the
system
• It shows the number of distinct user hits by last
24 hours, last 30 days and last 7 days
• You can access the Standardisation Variance tab
providing top-level RAG status of each series that
has completed standardisation

Paper Production & Print
Assessor Management & Marking Allocation
• Marking allocation is a workflow
process within EX_AM Portal where
assessors log capacity and planners
allocate papers
• Assessors set their marking capacity,
capabilities and preferences
• Planners match marking requirements
with skill level and availability
• Allocation team allocate current
number of assessors according to their
capacity settings and the number of
candidate entries on each unit
Standardisation
• The standardisation process ensures
marking schemes are correctly administered
to predetermined guidelines
• Approach is to take a small batch of
examination booklets and issue for marking
• Marking teams mark the booklets then use
EX_AM Portal to enter their marks
• The marking teams discuss the marks
• The system then calculates a red, amber,
green (RAG) variance between the agreed
mark and the mark given by the assessor
• This process is repeated and once
completed, variance reports are available to
analyse how the assessors are performing
Administration & Reports
• The reports module allows administrators to
access out-the-box reports:
• Assessor Variance - provides RAG variance for
each marking team on each unit
• Resource Planner - allows administrators to see
who the Assessment Authors and Scrutineers are
for each of the unit learning outcomes
• Usage – details the usage of the EX_AM Portal
and details the Assessor’s name and number of
hits per page
• User Profile Changes – allows administrators to
see when assessors make changes to their profile
eg. Contact numbers
Access, support & Forum
• User friendly jargon free Windows interface
• Can be hosted in house or externally and can be accessed through all modern
browsers to allow ease of access to external users
• The system uses form based authentication and have password encryption as
standard
• The application can run on https:// ensuring all users personal details are
protected
• EX_AM Portal has dedicated IT support
• Additional options include news, blogs, forums and online community
integration
