Zach is a student with learning difficulties due to lack of oxygen at birth. He has auditory processing issues, struggles with academic language and reading/writing which are about a year delayed. He has ADHD which affects his social cues. While his gross motor skills are strong, he has some visual-motor difficulties with poor handwriting legibility. He enjoys science and social studies. Socially, he shuts down when overwhelmed and acts as a class clown to avoid difficult tasks, and his impulsivity causes him to talk without permission. As he is under 16, employment skills do not need to be addressed at this transition stage.

Miguel lives with his parents, his maternal grandmother, and an older brother and sister. His parents are having financial problems, so his home life is stressful. His mother is out of work and his father does odd jobs around the community in order to earn enough for the family to get by. The family receives food stamps. Miguel, his father, brother and sister are all bilingual. His mother and maternal grandmother know very little English; as a result, the family all speak Spanish as the primary language.Developmental Details
Miguel's parents report that he was late to speak in addition to his speech impairment. He only uttered single words until the age of two and then gradually started to form sentences. He did seem to understand directions in Spanish. He was low birth weight (5 pounds) but did not remain in the hospital however despite trying hard, he refused to latch on and breastfeed. His appetite is reported as strong but limited in types of foods he will eat.School Life
Miguel does well with physical tasks. He can sort objects, copy letters, model and paint forms, and loves to play organized games.When he is expected to verbalize his work it is often very difficult for him. He can be very hard to understand because in addition to his developing English skills, Miguel has a speech and language impairment. He receives speech/language therapy three times a week and is pulled from his classroom for these therapy sessions. It can be hard for him to reenter the ongoing activities in the classroom when he returns. Miguel gets along well with his classmates, though he will avoid a child if he feels that the child has been critical of him. He is generally an easy-going child, but tends to be reserved with his classmates as he is very sensitive to any teasing from them regarding his speech.

What is Diversity? What is Inclusion? What is Equality? What are the differences between these three terms? Do we measure Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) the same or should we measure them differently? What impact and relevance will this on the project management community? 油
In 2021, an All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) investigating Diversity in STEM concluded that the way we measure EDI does not reflect the lived experience of underrepresented groups. In 2024 the APPG started a formal investigation into the issue. This may impact the way APM and other organisations measure EDI moving forward.

His father speaks English well, but rarely attends conferences. Zach was born in the U.S. but has learning difficulties due to lack of oxygen at birth. He is the youngest of three children and the only boy. He had difficulties feeding at birth and had to be fed with a feeding tube.
- 3. Language Zach has auditory processing difficulties which include slow ability to process correctly what is heard, difficulty learning vocabulary and spelling correctly. Zachs social language is appropriate, but he misses important social cues due to a diagnosis of ADHD. Zachs academic language is delayed one year.
- 4. Motor Skills Zach has some visual-motor difficulties and his writing has poor legibility. Zachs gross motor skills area an area of strength. He loves soccer.
- 5. Academic Zach is about one year delayed in reading and writing. He has difficulty with words that are not phonetically spelled. He has good ideas, but just stares when he has to put them down on paper. Zach has difficulty with subtraction and addition with regrouping. Zach loves science and social studies and is included in regular ed at that time.
- 6. Social/Emotional Shuts down when he is overwhelmed. Class clown when avoiding difficult tasks. Impulsivity causes him to talk without being recognized.
