CAD 3000  Project based course offered to juniors and seniors majoring in engineering
and design fields. Solidworks software is mastered and used as a tool - Students execute
the design process to create working prototypes in the Universitys Innovation Lab. Some
projects include drones, autonomous robots that successfully perform tasks, innovations
in personal technology devices and remote controlled robots built from scratch.
CAD 2061 course develops standard industry practices using CAD for applications
related to plumbing, electrical/electronic, HVAC, welding, and sheet metal fabrication.
The use of ANSI standards and building code applications are the basis for development
of individual projects and team projects. Projects include architectural models and
prototypes of mechanical components/systems. Projects are created by students using
CNC machining, laser cutting and 3d printing in addition to traditional methods in the
Universitys Innovation Lab. Autodesk Revit and Autocad software as well as SolidWorks
software are used as tools by students to create working drawings and virtual models.
Additionally, students are trained in perspective drawing and other sketching practices.
