- 2. Meet Patricia Gomez-Gracia, Madrid born, and Miami native, whose career in fashion has brought her from Miami to New York to London, her adoptive home. Patricia started her career like a natural. Unlike conventionally trained designers she studied economics and marketing. While attending university, a friend of Patricias suggested to begin her career in design by making handbags. After graduation, she continued her newfound interest back in Miami, producing a capsule collection. Patricia quickly realized that if she wanted to continue down this path, she needed to learn the ins and outs of the fashion industry. She sought out her favorite designer, Alexander McQueen and secured an internship. This quickly transitioned into a freelance designer role. From there Patricia moved to a full time designer roll at Homebody, under the Marchpole umbrella. In 2009 after five years, working hard building other peoples companies, Patricia decided it was time to revisit her own dream and Gomez-Gracia was born. Her designs are influenced by her natural style and her exposure to a diverse range of cultures. Patricia takes inspiration from her passion for textures and fabrics as opposed to creating a theme, as is the more traditional method. Feminine and refined with a sophisticated yet edgy twist, Gomez-Gracias designs feature sensual cuts and flattering lines in luxurious textured and often contrasting fabrics. Body conscious, fresh and innovative silhouettes, the brands signature appeals to women universally. The label has now caught the eye of many celebrities and fashionistas over the past few years. It is in high demand and has become increasingly evident why. Patricias contemporary yet classic designs give the appropriate amount of edge to any look. Not only does each piece exude sophistication with a chic vibe, but the flattering lines, contrasting textures and fabrics, and beautiful cuts make every woman look and feel like a star. Influences range from fabrics and textures to shapes in rain smeared windows. I want women to enjoy wearing my pieces like I savour the visceral experience of creating something special. I want them to feel special. A Gomez-Gracia outfit should be an event.
