Greece has the longest coastline in Europe and mountainous terrain including the Pindus Mountains and Mount Olympus, the highest point in Greece. Greece is bordered by Turkey, Albania, Bulgaria, and Macedonia and surrounded by the Aegean, Ionian, and Mediterranean Seas. The islands of Greece include Thera, an eastern part of an exploded volcano that was occupied as early as 12,000 BC. Greece has a Mediterranean climate with average temperatures ranging from 14 to 23 degrees Celsius and natural resources including lignite, petroleum, iron ore and bauxite.
