 Variabler: kjennetegn eller opplysninger om disse
 enhetene (eks. kj淡nn, p奪stand, holdning, geografisk
 beliggenhet osv)

 Kategorier/verdier: hver variabel deles inn i
 kategorier eller verdier (eks. mann, kvinne, helt enig,
 ganske enig, helt uenig osv)

 Enheter: Hvem er det vi vil vite noe om?


 Variabler: Hva vil vi vite om dem?


 Verdiene: Svaralternativene p奪 variablene
Ulike typer variabler
 Ikke-metriske variabler: De forskjellige verdiene
 best奪r i utgangspunktet ikke av tall (eks. kj淡nn,
 nasjonalitet)

 Metriske variabler: Variabler som i utgangspunktet
 best奪r av tall. De kan m奪le st淡rrelser, mengder,
 prosentandeler osv (eks. alder)
Klassifisering og koding
     For at et materiale skal kunne legges inn i et
     statistikkprogram, m奪 f淡lgende krav v脱re oppfylt:

1. Informasjonen m奪 kunne ordnes i entydige variabler
2. Hver variabel m奪 ha gyldige verdier (utt淡mmende,
   gjensidig utelukkende)
