Why do I love Dropbox?

Because Dropbox provides an
online place for all my
photos, documents, videos
and other files ...

which means I can access my
stuff from anywhere.

My other reasons:

飪� It can be used in multiple devices. If you saved your files
on your desktop, you can access them also from other
devices such as laptop, smartphone and tablet.

飪� It keeps your files in sync. You鈥檒l get to access
up-to-date info wherever you are.

飪� No need to bring USB flash drive or portable hard
drive.
飪� Super easy to share your files or folders to
others.
飪� Your files are always safe even if your computer
crashed down.

How does it work?

You need to setup your free
account and you will be given
2GBs for free straightaway.

I know it does not sound a lot. But, you get to earn an additional
500MB of free space for every friend you refer that creates an
account via Dropbox desktop application..

Your friend has to use the invite link that you鈥檙e
gonna send them to create a Dropbox account.
You can earn up to 16GB free referral space.
Please note:

Let us head over now to
Dropbox.com

Click sign in if you are already registered.

Provide your
email address
and Password.
Click 鈥淪ign in鈥�.

Click download if you don鈥檛 have dropbox software in
your computer yet.

When you click the exe file in the lower left corner of
your browser window, this window appears.
Click 鈥淩un鈥�.

Click 鈥淚nstall鈥� then
create an account.

Supply the required
information.
Tick 鈥淚 agree ... 鈥�.

Click 鈥淪ign up鈥�.

Keep the 2GB
selected
then click 鈥淣ext鈥�.

Select 鈥淭ypical鈥�
which is the
recommended one.
Click 鈥淚nstall鈥�.

When installation is finished, you are provided a 5-page tutorial.
Read these pages to orient yourself with some Dropbox
features.

A new folder is also created in your computer
called 鈥淒ropbox鈥�.

It works just like any other folder
on your machine except that
everything in it automatically
syncs to the web.

Now, click the Dropbox icon found in the bottom
right corner of your toolbar. This should appear out after
installation.

That will give you easy access
to the files from the
Dropbox folder.

A Dropbox icon is automatically created
also on your desktop.

Let鈥檚 try moving a file to
Dropbox from a local folder
to make it available online.

Open an explorer and pick a file
you want to move.

Have the window with your Dropbox ready.

Drag the file 鈥渢est鈥� to dropbox.

Notice the change of Dropbox icon against the icon
from the previous page.

The status icons will be covered
in the next few pages.

In the meantime, let us head to
www.dropbox.com
to check if we are able to access
the鈥渢est鈥� file online.

This is the home screen of my Dropbox.

Inside the 鈥淧ictures鈥� folder,

I鈥檝e got the 鈥渢est鈥� file now which I have just moved
from my local folder.

Here are the status icons
that you see over
a Dropbox file or folder.

It means the file or folder has completed
syncing the latest changes.

It means that your Dropbox is
currently syncing.

It is a status indicating that the folder
is not being synced. This appears when you鈥檙e using the
*selective sync feature.
*Selective sync is a feature that allows you to select only the folders you want to
get synced to your computer.

鈥淴鈥� means Dropbox is unable to sync for reasons like
connection problems or your storage quota is full.

How do you share a file or a folder?

Click the Dropbox icon to go back to the home screen.

Select the folder
or file you want to
share.
Right click and
choose
鈥淚nvite to folder鈥�.

Enter the email address of the person/s you want to
share the folder with. Click 鈥淪hare folder鈥�.

Untick this if you don鈥檛 want your members
to invite others.

A message can be added also.

Another way to share is via link.

Select the folder
or file you want to
share.
Right click and
choose
鈥淪hare link鈥�.

Click 鈥淕et link鈥�.

You鈥檒l see a message on top of the file or folder to share
that says 鈥淟ink copied to clipboard鈥�. Click 鈥淪hare鈥�.

Paste the link in the message box. Enter the
email address of the person/s in the
contact box. Click 鈥淪end鈥�.

How do you drop files on the
Dropbox website?

Click 鈥淯pload鈥� button.

Click 鈥淐hoose files鈥�.

Double click on the file you
would like to upload.

Add more files if you wish.

Click 鈥淒one鈥� when completed.

Uploading through the website has a
limit of 300 MB per file. For bigger files,
use the desktop application.
Please note:

To create a new folder, click the folder icon.

Give the new folder a name.
