Human reproduction involves the joining of male and female reproductive cells to form a new organism. The male reproductive cells or sperm are produced in the testes of a man, while a woman's ovaries produce female reproductive cells called eggs or ova. Fertilization occurs when a sperm cell joins with an egg, which then implants in the uterus and develops into an embryo and eventually a fetus over nine months of pregnancy.
