Editor's Notes

• #3: We started by providing an overview of the program and some skills we needed to learn more about. You provided great insights during Leadership 101. We learned from current leaders about their recipes for success and you included some of your own. We then began your Life Positioning System journey. You recorded some memorable moments.
• #4: You then developed your list of at least 20 things you rock at! Don’t forget to keep growing the list and remembering the list. Last session, we took the color styles quiz to learn more about our personality and leadership styles.
• #5: Today we are going to journey to your next step on your Life Positioning System. You or a student can read the instructions for the personal safe. Many people keep lockboxes, safes, or something of that nature in their house to keep material items secure. For this step you want to use an “imaginary safe” that can hold: People, Things, Moments, Relationships, Passions, Beliefs etc. These items should be things that are a great value to you. Think of the People, Things, Moments, Relationships, Passions, Beliefs etc. that are important to you to place in the “imaginary safe.” Read and have students record the step – 3 Minutes 2. Have students start to record items and ideas for their safe– about 3 - 5 Minutes. Remind students it can be pictures they draw or symbols that represent what is in their safe. 3. Have students share their safe items – about 5 minutes. For this discussion, white board and writing privileges can be given for students to draw out a safe for others to see and place their items in it. This provides more engagement and visuals than students simply reading their lists. 4. Encourage students for the Life Map they will construct on poster board or paper, they can include pictures, pictures of items etc.
• #6: Great Job on Step Three. Let’s take a look at your next step…which is called “You’re a Natural”. We all have things that just come naturally to us. These are positive things that are easy and effortless, and/or enjoyable for you to do. These are things that you do with a great deal of enthusiasm – you come alive! Some items like writing might be easy for you, but not enjoyable. For others it is all three: easy, effortless and enjoyable. For others, skiing might be enjoyable, but it is some-thing you need to work at to improve. These things can be simple or complex, ordinary or unique. However, they should not be nonsense or “timewasters” (i.e. your ability to throw pencils into the ceiling tiles when you are bored). But by taking the time to write down your easy, effortless and enjoyable tasks and things you attack with enthusiasm you will finally be able to listen to your inner voice and see those skills that truly make up who you are and should be the guiding force in choosing the path you want. Remember, the LPS stays with you, this list can be added to and modified at any time.
• #7: Step Four: The Three E’s Easy, Effortless and Enjoyable 1. Read and have students record the step – 2 Minutes. 2. Have students record their E’s on their Life Map Handout 3. Have students share their E’s 5 – 10 minutes 4. Sharing your own is always a good idea as well! 5. Conclude the session.
