The architects designed a new dental clinic for Impress in Barcelona within a small 861 square foot space. They created a set of interconnected partitions shaped like a smile curve to form a large furniture assembly containing two exam rooms, one on each floor, and a bathroom. This set moves inward from the facade to establish a reception area and outward from a wall to access the staircase. Curved walls increase the sense of space and create "curtains" that provide visual privacy between areas while maintaining an open floor plan. Natural light enters the basement through a triple-height void with an X-ray room accessed by a glass walkway. Large stainless steel windows follow their own order to not compete with the interior geometry.
