“Jobu?s Place” -
Simple beginnings
We really do have a plan!
(Jobu will guide us)
See – the plan is taking shape
Switching gears – forming the concrete bar
tops. Rebar and special effects lighting
These are the lights – melted glass rounds glued
to aluminum tubes set in the forms. Concrete was
poured around them.
The only way to
dry fresh-cut
bamboo. Put it
on the roof and
listen to it pop
and crack!
Work continues on the bar. Setting the
supports for the heavy bar tops. The long one
weighed over 250 pounds!
Time for bamboo. Cut, split, drill, nail, repeat.
A shot of Lois? handiwork with a hammer. Well-done!
(Jobu showed her the way)
The TIKI men are standing at the ready
Foot rails are in place.
Got good at knot tying
We set up the “app” station first. “Appetizers”
Setting the short bar top (only 150 pounds)
Both tops set and the crowds begin to form!
(Drinking a toast to Jobu)
Either got to work around ?em or run ?em off!
Looks like maybe Jacob has already been to a bar!
(Jobu needs a refill!)
Now that?s hand-eye
coordination! Text and drink!
Finally got rid of the
pre-opening crowd. Back
to work on the roof.
Nothing left but the
decorations!
The bar stools may need
some re-design work.
Bamboo is tough to glue!
The “app” station
Bamboo snack trays
The lights in the tops
are awesome! Lit from
below by LED lights.
Done! Ready for Jobu!
