This document contains statistics from the Glasnost Defence Foundation on incidents affecting journalists in Russia from 1999-2014. It shows data on the deaths of journalists which are sometimes linked to their work, as well as non-lethal incidents such as attacks and harassment. The numbers of total incidents and incidents affecting multiple journalists have risen in recent years. Most criminal cases against journalists are for defamation and fall under anti-extremism legislation. Conviction rates in these cases are high while acquittals are low.
