Mr. Kim is the proud owner of Kim's Convenience, a variety store in Toronto's Regent Park neighborhood. As the neighborhood gentrifies, Mr. Kim is offered money to sell the store, which has been his livelihood and legacy. He tries to convince his daughter Janet to take over the store instead. Meanwhile, his wife secretly meets their estranged son Jung, who has not spoken to his father in sixteen years. The story explores one Korean family facing challenges of the past and future.
