- 2. DEFINATION A word that used to add something to the meaning of noun. (Sood,2009) A word that describe the qualities of a noun or pronoun. (Swan,2008)

- 4. Adjectives can be located by asking the questions: What kind? Which one? How many? How much?
- 5. Uses Used in CONNECTION with a noun or pronoun to GIVE INFORMATION about the person, things or group referred to. Example : NOUNS We found hardly any good places ADJECTIVES
- 6. Types of adjectives 1. Describing adjectives / adjectives of quality are the most common. used to describe or tell us about the quality of a noun or pronoun. Examples: soft kind powerful poor 2. Demonstrative adjectives / determiners Used to point out which noun is being spoken of. Examples: That boy is Samuel Those men are working These men are resting
- 7. 3. Possesive adjectives Used to show possession. Examples: This is our house It is his bicycle The possessive adjectives are as follows: Singular Plural First person MY OUR Second person YOUR YOUR Third person HIS, HER, ITS THEIR
- 8. 4. Number adjectives Indicate number or quantity Show how many persons or things are meant Examples: Six apples The second girl All men are mortal 5. Indefinite adjectives / adjectives of quantity Also used to refer to number, BUT they do not tell us the exact number. Examples: i. There are many oranges in the basket ii. There are some flowers in the vase iii. A few people were left at the station
- 9. 6. Interrogative adjectives 7. Distributive adjectives Used with NOUNS to Refer to each number ask questions Examples: Examples: i. Each member was i. - 10. Comparison of adjectives Used when there are more than one noun being discussed. There are three degrees of comparison: 1. POSITIVE: used to describe a single noun Example: An intelligent girl A good book
- 11. 2. COMPARATIVE: used to compare two similar nouns (people or things) Usually add -er to the adjective, but for longer words we sometimes put more in front of the adjective. Examples: A more intelligent girl A better book 3. SUPERLATIVE: used to compare more than two similar nouns It is formed by adding -est to the adjective or putting most in front of the adjectives. Examples: The most intelligent girl The best book
