LAC 5 Narrative
Continuous education amidst pandemic is really essential for learners. It serves a medium for students
in coping up in this new normal. As stated in DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2016, Learning Action Cell (LAC) is a
session conducted by group of teachers who engage in collaborative learning sessions to solve shared
challenges encountered in school.
In line with this, Tipas NHS faculty led by Ms. Edzel M. Leopango, L & D Coordinator and Heat Teacher I
conducted webinar entitled : CLICked amidst Pandemic : Contextualization, Localization and Indigenization of
Curriculum for Know-how Education amidst Pandemic on January 27, 2021 at 7: 30 in the morning.
Mrs. Analyn C. Fruelda (Teacher II), led the pray followed by nationalistic song. Welcome remarks was
given by the ever dynamic Principal I, Mr. Elmer G. Samarita. The speakers was introduced by Mr. Jeffrey S.
Delen (Teacher II) that really excites the teachers to listen. Mrs. Julieta S. Deduque (Master Teacher I)
discussed the Process of Contextualization and Localization. She said that  Curriculum is flexible enough to
enable and allow schools to localize, indigenized and enhance the same based on their respective educational
and social context. She also explain the definition of contextualization, nature and needs of learner and the
needs of the national and global community. Lots of example was also given to understand more the topics.
After the first speaker, it was followed immediately by Mrs. Rizza V. Ebora (Teacher III). Her topic
enttled  The Process of Contextualization and Indigenization. According to her Localization and
indigenization are degrees or levels of doing contextualization. When we localize, we do not necessarily
indigenize. When we indigenize, we localize Examples was also given for clarification and deepen
understanding of the topic.
After the talk, the speakers and participants was recognized through virtual awarding led by our
Principal, Mr Elmer G. Samarita and followed by the closing remarks of Mrs. Maria Theresa S. Paran (Head
Teacher I).
This webinar is a big help to teachers for contextualization localization and indigenization of the
curriculum and align to legal basis of the Department of Education. Over all it was really successful because of
the learning shared and active interaction of participants. It will serve as a challenge for teachers to teach the
mind and touch the hearts of every students amidst pandemic.
