The SWWE Regional Network were very pleased to welcome Aalok Sonawala, Head of PMO, National Programmes, Rider Levett Bucknall on 26 February, to BAWA for our first face to face event of 2025. Aalok is a member of APM’s Thames Valley Regional Network and also speaks to members of APM’s PMO Interest Network, which aims to facilitate collaboration and learning, offer unbiased advice and guidance.
Tonight, Aalok planned to discuss the importance of a PMO within project-based organisations, the different types of PMO and their key elements, PMO governance and centres of excellence.
PMO’s within an organisation can be centralised, hub and spoke with a central PMO with satellite PMOs globally, or embedded within projects. The appropriate structure will be determined by the specific business needs of the organisation. The PMO sits above PM delivery and the supply chain delivery teams.

- 1. SEDAN
- 3. The Georges Ouvrard school is situated near the city center of Sedan, in front of the botanical garden. It welcomes pupils from 2 to 12 years old.
- 4. Until 6 years the children are welcomed in the nursery school which has four classes and a class for 12 pupils with special needs. In this one, there is a court and a dormitory.
- 5. Then the children go to the primary school which has 7 classes. Inside this one, there is a computer room, a library and a room for the visual art.
- 6. Noon, children can eat to the canteen which is managed by the city. Also, there is an extracurricular municipal welcome for the children whose parents work.
- 7. As the others schools of Sedan, our pupils go to the swimming pool a part of the year and make of the gymnastics for the youngest, the Handball and the table tennis for the tallest. These activities take place outside of the school. They can also go to the municipal library, look at it and borrow books, see exhibitions or participate to it for projects
- 8. One evening a week, there are Turkish or Arabic class for the pupils who want it. Also, certain activities are sometimes organized in the evening: theater for example, walking and discovery of the heritage.
- 9. The team tries to propose to the pupils various activities or projects to develop the interest of the pupils: participation in activities of national solidarity: the Telethon in favour of the genetic diseases, let us clean the nature, the exits, the educational schooltrip to the countryside (discovered by the nature with on- the-spot a few days).
- 10. Every year, an evening of choral singing is prepared for the parents and for the last year the school organized a cross.
- 11. Other projects which vary according to years can be added to it: creation of a record with an Iraqi musician last year for a class, a work with another musician for this year or the other activities proposed by the municipality. The middle school also proposes exchanges on various projects: on the chocolate in connection with week of the Taste this year.
- 12. The network which our school trains with the middle school and the other schools of the city wants to become center of excellence in English, that is why the children begin the learning of this language from the nursery school.
