Editor's Notes
- #2: Introduction yourself. Show the LRC on the photo that it takes over both wings. Give out induction leaflet show we are here on the map. Explain what were going to do in the session.
- #3: Make sure everyone can log on. Explain about password lasts for 60 days, 7 characters long etc. Include all programs in demo.
- #5: Explain about the options for logging on to a device whilst on campus. eduroam option is available at other universities that are also part of the scheme.

- #9: Youll see on the map (point) there are catalogue terminals dotted across the LRC. These machines are set to the library catalogue only and save you having to log on yourself if you only want to find out the shelfmark of one book. Do a quick search in the library catalogue for pasta.
- #12: Explain for anyone who is interested that we use Dewey here. Show on the map East Wing starts 000-614.9 West Wing starts 615-999 Combination of 7-day loans (point to yellow label in second photo) and 21 day loans. Explain borrowing privileges.
- #13: Once youve found some books to borrow, bring them to the self service machines. They are opposite the Service Desk as you come in to the LRC.
- #20: The Open Access area has the largest bank of terminals in the LRC and can get very noisy during semester time. Over 80 terminals! More suited to people who like to study socially.
- #21: There are 6 group study rooms in the LRC and are for student use only. You can book them online up to 3 weeks in advance.
- #22: Four quiet study rooms are in the West Wing (show on map). New quiet study rooms in East Wing (show on map old workroom) Each room has a few computer terminals and sockets for you to plug your laptop in. It is not completely silent as you can hear tapping of the keyboards but it is quieter than the Open Access area as no talking or group work is allowed.
- #23: There are 6 individual study carrels in East Wing (show on map). Each carrel has desk space, a lamp and a socket for you to plug in your laptop. The carrels can be booked like the group study rooms via Room Bookings. *Thin Client laptops can be borrowed from the Service Desk for 4 hours.*
