The LSRFUR Academy is replacing development squads to provide more support and investment in up-and-coming referees in London than ever before. The goal is to give referees a chance to make the Premier National Referee panel. Fitness is emphasized because research found most believe referees are not fit enough to keep up with the rapidly changing and faster professional game, and PNR selection will focus more on fitness than decision making. The Academy will be run by Gary Dibden, Jacko, and Mark Powell to develop refereeing talent through 2011/12.
