(1) The Learning Layers project aimed to understand informal learning in small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) like general practitioner (GP) practices in the UK, identify how technology could support this learning, and co-design tools to do so through an iterative process. (2) The project developed a tool called "Bits & Pieces" to help users record, organize, share, and collaborate on informal learning experiences and resources. (3) Initial evidence found that reflecting deeply on experiences during collection helped users remember them later using semantic cues, while more shallow reflection required re-evaluating experiences; healthcare professionals valued collecting, visualizing, and collaborating on learning through the tool.
