Make and let
1. MAKE + OBJECT + ZERO INFINITIVE
Use: to say what a person obliges another person to do.
Example: She makes me study a lot (= She obliges me to study a
lot).
Past tense: made Example: She made me study a lot.
2. LET+ OBJECT+ ZEROINFINITIVE
Use: to talk about giving permission.
Example: Ill let you go out tonight. (= I give you permission to go
out tonight).
Past tense: let Example: I let you go out that night.
Exercise A: Choose the correct word.
1. My parents (let/make) me stay out late every Friday night.
2. They (let/make) me tidy my room when its messy.
3. My teachers always (let/make) me do my homework.
4. I wish you would (let/make) me do what I wanted.
5. Do your parents (let/make) you play loud music?
6. I dont like it when people (let/make) me do something I dont want to
do.
