Multimodal Imaging
Probes For Research,
Diagnostics and
Therapeutics
Presented by:
Marcus Yaffee, PhD
MPH Professional
Senior Research Scientist
Translational Imaging, USC
When:
Tuesday, AUGUST 11th, 2015
4:00 5:00 p.m.
Where:
HMRI Research Conference Center
734 Fairmount Avenue
Pasadena, CA 91105
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the
accreditation requirements and policies of the Institute for Medical
Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) through the joint
providership of Huntington Hospital and Huntington Medical Research
Institutes. The Huntington Hospital is accredited by the IMQ/CMA to provide
continuing medical education for physicians.
Huntington Hospital designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 hour of
AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Physicians should claim only the credit
commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
TOPIC SUMMARY:
Development and validation of new imaging probes for
biomedical research and clinical applications; design and
synthesis of modular biocompatible mixed-metal
nanoparticle [MMNP] composites for mutli-modal
imaging. MMNP can be used for molecular targeted
imaging and therapies, e.g. PET/MRI/CT. In vitro, in situ
and in vivo case studies will be presented to
demonstrate the function of each class of marker.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Marcus Yaffee studied Chemistry at UNM, USA and the
University of Cambridge, UK. He was awarded his PhD
from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich
and a professional MPH (Toxicology/EHS) at UC Berkeley
(2006). He was Senior Scientist, Nuclear Medicine,
University Hospital Bern, Switzerland (2012) , and is
currently a research scientist in the group of Prof. Scott
Fraser at the USC Translational Imaging Center. Dr.
Yaffees professional skillsets include Synthetic
Chemistry, Cell biology, Biophysics, Immunology and
Toxicology as well as their clinical application.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Clinicians and Researchers.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Gain knowledge of state-of-the-art and next
generation imaging probes for diagnostics and
therapeutics.
2. Understand clinical applications of theranostic
probes.
3. Identify and design biomedical research studies
using multimodal probes.
4. Understand clinical application of multiplexed
probes in pathology.
