The Bushmaster Company has been busy since deploying to Afghanistan in January 2013. They spent weeks stranded in a snowstorm before arriving at COP Muqor, where they took on additional duties while stationed at the outpost. By early April, Bushmaster had successfully closed COP Muqor by the deadline. The Security Force Advise and Assist Teams (SFAATs) have become an integral part of the company as they shift their focus to enabling the Afghan forces. Bushmaster recently received orders for another "Change of Mission," which will involve forming a new platoon by combining members of two existing platoons under new leadership.
The document announces a teen job fair to take place on March 29, 2013 from 10:00-1:00 at Army Community Service located at 4330 Conway Road on Fort Drum. A teen career fair preparation workshop will be held on March 18th from 4:00-6:00 at CYSS. The job fair will allow local teens to meet with employers and learn about on post and off post job opportunities. Can you survive the Waterfront 5?
Mud, Sweat & Cheers... The Bordoni 5k Ex-
treme Fitness Challenge will support the construction
of the Chris Bordoni Fitness Trailhead along the
Cayuga Waterfront Trail in Cass Park. The Bordoni Fit-
ness Challenge, on Saturday, May 11, is a great team
effort for families, friends and colleagues. It will push
you, make you sweat, laugh, cry, and get a little dirty
while bringing out the best in you and your teammates.
Five person teams will be challenged by strength, car-
dio and obstacle activities at 5 stations along the trail
starting at Island Health & Fitness and finishing at the
future site of the fitness trailhead along Park Road at
the south end of the Cass Park Trail.
The entry fee is $40 each or $200 per team or $30
per person or $150 per team for military and law en-
forcement personnel. Four 5-person teams will be re-
leased every 20 minutes starting at 9:00 a.m. until
12:20 p.m. There will be a reception at Island Health &
Fitness for participants as their heats are completed.
This is not a competition and all teams must finish to-
gether, as a team. No one will be left behind.
All proceeds from Mud, Sweat & Cheers will sup-
port the design and construction of the Chris Bordoni
Fitness Trailhead, an outdoor fitness trailhead to be
located on the Cayuga Waterfront Trail in Cass Park.
Construction is planned for summer of 2013.

CORPORAL CHRIS BORDONI
Chris Bordoni was a local kid who loved to play hard. As he grew he
started turning that drive into a personal mission a mission of service to
his community and country. When Chris Bordoni became a Marine, he was
fulfilling the destiny he felt he was born to achieve. Tragically, Corporal Bor-
doni lost his life overseas during Operation Enduring Freedom.
From sadness comes hope
Chris loved being active, in shape, and helping others reach their fitness goals. Now, it is
time for our community to pull together with Chriss spirit, for MUD, SWEAT & CHEERS.
MS&C is a team based 5k fitness challenge to benefit the Chris Bordoni Fitness Trailhead of
the Cayuga Waterfront Trail at Cass Park. This is a great team event for family, friends and
co-workers. Teams of five will be challenged by strength, cardio and obstacle activities at
each of the 5 fitness challenge stations along the trail. MS&C will make you sweat, struggle,

Summary:
Join our team challenge to honor fallen marine Chris
Bordoni and the Cayuga Waterfront Trail through this
blistering 5k course that will challenge your teams fit-
ness level and will. This is for serious athletes and
race enthusiasts to get more out of a race than just put-
ting one foot in front of the other for time. Can you sur-
vive the waterfront 5?
Benefit:
This is an event to benefit the Cayuga Waterfront Trail
and honor fallen marine Chris Bordoni. Proceeds go
directly to support the construction of the waterfront
trail.
Heats:
Every 20 minutes starting at 9am ending at 12:20 as
the last heat.
20 people per heat, 60 people per hour. Race will end
approximately 2pm.
Winners/Competition:
Finish the race as a team, no one is left behind. No
stop watch or times necessary. Good form is enforced
throughout; teams should support each other and al-
ways help the weakest link.

20 people per heat (4 teams per 20mins) 200 people

assign you a team or someone to join your team
Obstacles and Workouts
When the entire team encounters an obstacle station,
they will be directed by staff to one of the following:
1.) team strength challenge (certain number of reps
of various exercises like squats and push-ups)
2.) team obstacle (finish the task as a team like flip-
ping a tire a certain distance)
3.) team cardio challenge together like jumping
jacks, mountain climbers, or hill runs for a set amount
of time or reps
5 Stations
There will be 5 stations spread out through the course
with 2-3 different challenges at each station that will
test your strength and your spirit. A water station will
be located in Cass Park between obstacles. The
course obstacles will remain secret until the day of the
event. Examples: Each team must finish all 2-3 chal-
lenges before being allowed to move on in the race.
Station 1: Terrible Twenty (Located outside of IHF
pull-up bars)
Strength: 20 pull-ups, 20 Kettlebell swings, 20
box jumps
Obstacle: team giant tire carry. As a team they
carry the tire under the bridge and back.
Cardio: 100 jumping jacks
Run in between: Participants will be guided north under
the 96 bridge and run around Boatyard Grill clockwise.
Once circling around, they will be led on the right side
of the 89 bridge sidewalk and continue north on the wa-
terfront trail.
Station 2: Rope burn (close to playground and
parking area in cass park, directly across the inlet
from the farmers market before Linderman creek.
Strength: 100 body weight squats
Obstacle: Tire flip 60 meters down and
back to a set of cones. Small tire no more
than 2, big tire no more than 3. Team
members will alternate who flips.
Cardio: 200 rope slams PER TEAM. A
giant rope will be anchored to a vehicle that
keeps it in place while people one at a time
get as many slams as they can until they
reach 200.
Run in between: Participants will continue on the
waterfront trail north before bearing left following
the trail and heading west passing the marina on
their right. Obstacle 3 will be south of the Ithaca
Dog Park.
Station 3: Sled Drag
Strength: Walking lunges to a cone and
back, 60 meters total.
Obstacle: Sled drag backwards or for-
wards 90lbs. There are 2 sleds. Each
team member will drag it once down and
back (60 meters total) through cones and
pass it off to next member.
Cardio: A volunteer will lead a team
through 3 mins of mountain climbers (body
weight exercise with hands on ground
bring knees to chest) before going to the
next challenge.
Run in between: Participants will continue on the
waterfront trail south and come to station 4 close
to Union Field and public restrooms, Childrens
Garden, and the black diamond trail.
Station 4: Hellish Hill
Strength: 30 burpees (in mud potentially)
Obstacle: Crawl under string held down by
stakes, and run the rest of the way up the hill as
a team.
No cardio challenge on this station
Run in between: Participants will continue south and
end across from IHF come to station 5 where they will
cross the finish line by the public parking lot and collect
their T-shirts and donate shoes if they choose(charity
refurbishes shoes for Africa).
Station 5: Medical Leave
Strength: 100 Sit-ups (in grass)
Obstacle: Teammate carry 20meters each, one
person gets carried (teammates hold on to each
limb)
No cardio component on this station
Finish: Participants cross the finish line by the public
parking lot, collect their T-shirts and donate shoes if
they choose (charity refurbishes shoes for Africa).
Pricing:
$30 per person for military/law enforcement, $40 per
person for general. $200 per team for general parti-
cipants; $150 for law enforcement/military personnel.
Marketing:
Sign at the desk, newspaper, radio ad, website.
Staffing:
1 trainer and/or 1 volunteer certified in CPR per obsta-
cle
