Achievements:
While employed at Journal Graphics, I developed and implemented many cost saving and
efficiency improvements. I developed the use of white erase boards to keep track of inventory
on the presses. I instituted a tracking program to monitor the throughput of Operators and
crews. I developed a maintenance program, so all the equipment was rebuilt once year. I
developed a peer training program for crews, so Journeymen were always training apprentices.
I discovered a sizable cost savings for the company in recycling pallet wood instead of putting
broken pallets in the garbage dumpster. One of my biggest ideas brought the company an
annual savings of almost sixty thousand dollars a year, by changing the routing procedures
between departments, of palletized product to minimize handling and potential damage of
material. I also standardized a progressive discipline program for problem employees as well as
the way write ups were handled to keep things equitable between employees.
