Here we see a car driving through a forest area on a road by
itself. The fact that this is the first thing you see could suggest to
the audience that the people inside of this car would be the main
characters. They are alone which could show that they are
vulnerable. The trees are shown covering the sky above the car.
The could mean that the trees over-power the car and therefore
the people inside meaning that the people are probably the
protagonists and therefore are the weaker characters.

The image hear seems to be a rough form of a skull made from
ink on a piece of paper. The skull could symbolise to the
audience that at some point in this film somebody would be killed
which tells the audience that this film would probably be a horror
movie. This lets the audience know that there will also be an
antagonist in this film who would create danger for the
protagonist.

This looks to be an abandoned mental asylum. This could tell the
audience that there would be some mad-headed people in this
film and they would probably be the antagonist. The room looks
dirty and ruined which could show that the person who stayed
inside of the room didn’t care much about cleanliness or others.

This shows the sky become dark because it’s getting late. The
fact that its turning dark could forebode to the audience that
something dark is going to happen during the film which would
let the audience know that this is a horror film. The dark clouds
could also relate to the feeling of the protagonist meaning that
something has upset them deeply.

This shows a bottle of either chemicals or medicine as well as a
dolls head in the background. This could be related to the mental
asylum image as this could be the area that the antagonist is
staying. If it’s medicine then it could be being used to try and
treat the mad-man or to keep them as sane as possible.
However the head in the background could go against this as
most if not all sane people wouldn’t keep a dirty dolls head.

The trees here make the area seem dark and eerie. This shows
the audience that this film would definitely be a horror film along
with all the other images. There are no / minimal leaves on the
trees which suggests that it is late / early on in the year. They
haven’t shown any people so the area seems to be deserted
which suggests that something bad could happen to the
protagonist in this area.

The extreme close up of the eye allows the audience to see the
expression. The eye being wide open suggest that the character
is shocked or surprised. This may suggest that it is the
protagonist. The area is dark which suggests that the film would
be dark.

This seems to be a morgue. This suggests to the audience that
somebody will die during the film. This in turn tells the audience
that this movie will be a horror movie and therefore there would
be an antagonist and a protagonist. The fact that they have
made the area dark could relate to the mood of the protagonist in
the film suggesting to the audience that something bad will
happen to them

The sign looks very old. This could show that the town that it is
welcoming people to is also very old. The sign has been
abandoned and left on the floor which could show that the town
has been forgotten about from people outside of it. The sign
being dirty could show that the town is also dirty and overgrown
which could make it seem more eerie.

From researching about these nine horror
shots I have learnt that the use of props
and scenery can show the audience a lot
about what the genre of the film will be,
what the characters could be feeling and
what they would be like. It can also
forebode and create imagery in the minds
of the audience which would allow me to
use the power of suggestion in my film to
keep the age certification at a lower age.
