Katelynn Rice believes that participating in politics allows citizens to enact positive change and take a stand for their beliefs. They chose to vote to help elect leaders who will protect freedoms and best lead the country. Through their class, Katelynn learned how complex the federal government is with its many courts. They view immigration as an important issue for future generations given controversies around security, values, and economics. Katelynn also believes the First Amendment, which guarantees freedoms of speech, religion, press, and assembly, is the most important amendment. The class taught Katelynn about the importance of civic participation and the lengthy process for passing bills through Congress and the President.
