PARTICIPATE
What makes me want to vote?
Honestly, I never have before. This
year will be the first time I participate
in a Presidential Election.
What things do I want to change? I
would like to see the younger
generation utilize their voices more
and become more active and educated
on political matters. As Im guilty of
not doing this myself, I think the
importance of this should be addressed
more throughout the later years of
ones high school education.
I LEARNED
This semester has been very eye opening for me. Ive learned so much,
simply because Ive never been interested or payed attention to politics.
The thing that stuck with me the most in this class was, the powers that
the President holds. I also never fully understood the Electoral College and
how it functions until this class.
I would like to continue knowing things about the government, and how it
functions. It has been YEARS since Ive taken a government class, so this
course was very informative.
IMPORTANT
The political issue that I believe needs to be
addressed is voting! The younger generation
needs to get out, and make their voices
heard! We cant ask for change, if we dont
get out and make our voices heard!
Another political issue is Civil Rights. This
has been a continuing issue over the years,
but I think SOME things are FINALLY being
addressed! With more media coverage over
certain issues, I think change is bound to
happen!
1ST AMENDMENT
I believe the 1st Amendment; freedom of
speech, religion, press, petition, and
assembly is the most important. Under this
amendment we are allowed many things
that we exercise daily. Freedom of speech is
the most important to me, because nobody
can speak for me! I have my own voice and
can freely voice my concerns if need to.
Freedom of religion is important too. I
believe that we are all created differently
and should have the right to believe in
what ever religion we choose to.
LESSONS
The biggest thing that Ive learned this semester is, get involved! By this I
mean be an active participant in what is going on. Whether it is a
community vote, or the Presidential election. Although I am one person, I
can make a difference by just showing up and participating!
