Editor's Notes

  • #2: Introduction: expect frustration! Bringing an awareness of the frustration that technological innovation can bring, my aim is to give you an overview of a process you might use when planning or implementing an innovation using technology, and hopefully some inspiration for your own innovations.
  • #3: What is been-there-done-that for some will be highly innovative for others. No group of educators and students are ever the same and their contexts will also be a major variable that can make a world of difference to the success or otherwise of an innovation project. Distance students, mature age, just-out-of-school, literacy/numeracy challenged, etc... First... Find out about your students needs.
  • #4: Students learning needs are paramount, but need to married with what is possible, feasible and manageable for lecturers. Second: Choose a focus one thing at a time.
  • #7: Collaborative learning has difficulties/challenges!
  • #8: Write it down! Use a planning sheet, your teaching team... There are many tools.
