MONITORING TEMPERATURE AND GAS LEAKAGE SYSTEM BASED ON WIRELESS SENSOR
NETWORK

WSN is a specification for a suite of high level communication protocols using
small, low-power digital radios based on the IEEE 802.15.4-2003 standard for Low-
Rate Wireless Personal Area Networks (LR-WPANs), such as wireless light switches
with lamps, electrical meters with in-home-displays, consumer electronics
equipment via short-range radio needing low rates of data transfer.
The technology defined by the WSN specification is intended to be simpler and
less expensive than other WPANs, such as Bluetooth. WSN is targeted at radio-
frequency (RF) applications that require a low data rate, long battery life, and
secure networking.
WSN is a low-cost, low-power, wireless mesh networking standard. First, the low
cost allows the technology to be widely deployed in wireless control and
monitoring applications. Second, the low power-usage allows longer life with
smaller batteries. Third, the mesh networking provides high reliability and more
extensive range.
 We have tested our device with the spray ,if the output of the temperature
value exceed 40 属C then the buzzer alarm is going to beep
 And for gas sensor ,if value exceeds 120ppm,then the buzzer is going to beep
 It detects gas leakage and temperature up to 15-20m from the gas leakage
destination
SCOPE of the Project

Methodology
 Monitoring temperature and gas using wireless sensor network.
 Also to be able to monitor the indoor environment and detect and analyze the
gas and temperature.
 Our paper combines gas sensors with wireless sensor network(WSN) nodes and
provide users with optional monitoring subjects for constructing and wifi
modules to get united with uploading real time sensor messages.
Hardware kit of the project with
all the important components
connected and soldered on a
wooden board and power supply
taken from normal power outlet
provided(220volts) which is then
converted to 12 volts by the step
down transformer shown in the
picture.
Monitoring volatile organic compound pollution levels in indoor environments is
of great importance for the health and comfort of individuals, especially
considering that people currently spend more than 80% of their time indoors.
Once the pollution occurred in an insufficient ventilation location, the womankind
and children will be the most directly affected; therefore, we hoped to focus the
measurement environment on indoor surroundings in this paper.This paper
proposes a pointing at several kinds of indoor pollutants and integrating multigas
sensors. Our paper combines gas sensors with WSN (Wireless Sensor Network).
Introduction
This project has many applications in real life which include environmental
monitoring,boiler control,fire detection.alcohol breadth tests,home safety,etc.
We also tested the project and found that it works to detect gas and temperature
in the specified range and as a result can be used in areas which require the
detection of gas concentration in the atmosphere and temperature as well and
control them as a result to a safe level.

Fig.1 Shows the typical sensitivity characteristics of the MQ-6LPG
(Gas Sensor)ordinate means resistance ratio of the sensor (Rs/Ro),
abscissa is concentration of gases. Rs means resistance in different gases,
Ro means resistance of sensor in 1000ppm LPG. All tests are under standard
test conditions.
