The Kherson Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Oles Honchar was damaged during Russia's occupation of Kherson, Ukraine from March to November 2022. Russians stole computers, printers, valuable books, and manuscripts from the library. They also mined the library building. The library is working to rebuild and restart operations by collecting donated books to replace those stolen, opening a charity account, and restarting the board of trustees. Donations of equipment like laptops and a scanner are needed to help the library resume work assessing damage and operations. The library dreams of obtaining a mobile library bus to help serve rural communities impacted by the occupation.
