What is the EST?
The Embryonic Stem Cell Test (EST) is an assay used to evaluate embryotoxicity and
teratogenicity of compounds, cosmetics and chemical applications. The European
Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM) has validated an EST
protocol, which is widely used. The EST requires the production of mouse
embryoid bodies (EBs) by the classic hanging-drop method which is generally
viewed as a time-consuming, labour-intensive and delicate process. After formation
the EBs are hand-picked and transferred into a multiwell plate for differentiation
into beating cardiomyocytes.

How does InSphero’s easyESTTM make the test more efficient?
InSphero’s easyEST kit* is based on InSphero’s patent-pending culture technology,
which allows the formation of 96 hanging drops by top loading into the plate. No
turning of the culture dish is necessary and the formed EBs can easily be trans-
ferred into a 96-well culture plate for the downstream assay. The easyEST system
is compatible with every multi well-compliant liquid handling device ranging from
a manual single channel pipette to a robotic 96-tip dispenser. The easyEST process
is extremely reliable and time saving, and finally makes your EST fully automation

This webinar will introduce the Grid Edge Security and Interoperability Alliance, or GEISA, an effort within LF Energy to address application interoperability at the very edge of the utility network: meters and other distribution automation devices. Over the last decade platform manufacturers have introduced the ability to run applications on electricity meters and other edge devices. Unfortunately, while many of these efforts have been built on Linux, they haven’t been interoperable. APIs and execution environment have varied from one manufacturer to the next making it impossible for utilities to obtain applications that they can run across a fleet of different devices. For utilities that want to minimize their supply chain risk by obtaining equipment from multiple suppliers, they are forced to run and maintain multiple separate management systems. Applications available for one device may need to be ported to run on another, or they may not be available at all. GEISA addresses this by creating a vendor neutral specification for utility edge computing environments. This webinar will discuss why GEISA is important to utilities, the specific issues GEISA will solve and the new opportunities it creates for utilities, platform vendors, and application vendors.

2. What is the EST? The Embryonic Stem Cell Test (EST) is an assay used to evaluate embryotoxicity and teratogenicity of compounds, cosmetics and chemical applications. The European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM) has validated an EST protocol, which is widely used. The EST requires the production of mouse embryoid bodies (EBs) by the classic hanging-drop method which is generally viewed as a time-consuming, labour-intensive and delicate process. After formation the EBs are hand-picked and transferred into a multiwell plate for differentiation into beating cardiomyocytes. How does InSphero’s easyESTTM make the test more efficient? InSphero’s easyEST kit* is based on InSphero’s patent-pending culture technology, which allows the formation of 96 hanging drops by top loading into the plate. No turning of the culture dish is necessary and the formed EBs can easily be transferred into a 96-well culture plate for the downstream assay.
