This document summarizes research on developing nonstationary intensity-duration-frequency (IDF) curves for southern Ontario under a changing climate. It finds that hourly annual maximum rainfall shows nonstationary trends, with nonstationary generalized extreme value models better simulating extremes than stationary models. There are also significant differences in short duration rainfall return levels between current and projected time periods. The uncertainty in return level estimates increases with longer return periods. Future work will develop IDF curves for current and projected time periods to compare differences between stationary and nonstationary models.Foodborne Disease Handbook.
