Who was the target audience?

 The thriller was widely aimed at 18-35 year
olds, specifically males. Our target age group is 18-35
year olds because our thriller is psychological, therefore
people of this age group are likely to understand the
storyline which may be confusing to some people who
  are younger.
Rough cut feedback

 When our rough-cut film was shown to our peers, we
found that the majority of people did not fully understand
the plot. However, when shown to an older
audience, they had a better understanding of the
detective having some sort of split personality disorder.

 We also found that the boys/men seemed slightly more
interested in the opening in comparison to the female
due to the use of a male victim.
What appealed to the audience?

 The main aspect which helps set the target audience is
the storyline of a film. Our thriller appealed to males
because of the mysterious and violent plot which we had
set – a young male will get murdered.

 As this thriller has a twist in the storyline, it is more likely to
attract older people as the plot ‘plays with your mind.’
What appealed to the audience?

 From audience feedback, I had found that the use of a
female protagonist was an important aspect of
attracting our target audience. The actress in our thriller
appealed to a young female audience because they
were able to relate to her. Furthermore, the use of a
young female detective appealed to those who were
18-25 as it showed one of the many struggles that people
  of this age range experience.
What appealed to the audience?

 The use of a city scape at the beginning appealed to our
target audience because it allowed context to be built
and set a central location for the story – the city is usually
where you would fine adults working in and therefore the
older half of our target audience would be attracted by
  an office type job.
Reaching out to the audience

 Prior to the cinema screening, we gained an audience
through the use of Twitter and Facebook. We used these
social media sites to bring our thriller to the audiences
eyes. This was successful as our target audience tend to
use these sites often, therefore it would be easy to reach
  them this way.
Reaching out to the audience

 We also promoted our thriller through the use of previews
on YouTube and in class. YouTube was an important
platform for us as it allowed us to distribute the thriller
  quickly and for free.

 ‘word of mouth’ was also how we got our thriller
recognized. People who had watched the opening
  recommended others to watch it.
