The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK-based educational charity that developed the Raspberry Pi, a series of small single-board computers aimed at teaching basic computer science in schools and developing countries. In 2012, the Raspberry Pi was launched with 10,000 units available and both distributor websites crashed due to high demand. By 2015, the Raspberry Pi 2 was being manufactured at 20,000 units per day in Wales and also saw extremely high sales on launch day. The non-profit foundation has since sold over 5 million units and focuses on education and community programs.
