Sinar Mas is one of Asia's leading enterprises consisting of 6 main business pillars including pulp and paper, agribusiness and food, real estate and development, financial services, telecommunications, and energy and infrastructure. Founded in 1938, Sinar Mas creates 300,000 direct jobs and supports 500,000 additional jobs in Indonesia. It is committed to sustainable and inclusive growth through high business, environmental and social standards.
The document discusses the complex strategic environment businesses face due to ongoing global disruptions and economic uncertainty. It notes that navigating this environment requires leaders to develop dynamic perspectives on potential scenarios and opportunities. The best organizations turn ambiguity into opportunity by having a clear view of the challenges/opportunities in the world and an adaptable strategic plan. The document outlines some of the key disruptions, including geopolitical tensions, inflation, rising interest rates, supply chain issues, and shifts in consumer behavior. It also discusses how the economic outlook and impacts of these issues vary significantly across regions and sectors.
The 2nd lockdown in Europe is perceived as less challenging and disruptive than the 1st lockdown in spring. Purchase intent for new cars has dropped 13 percentage points since September across EU markets, while used car purchase intent has only dropped 2 points. Respondents plan to delay car purchases and spend less by requiring discounts on smaller cars. Mobility usage is down 7 points since September, with French and Italian respondents most affected. The aftermarket is also impacted, with a decrease in planned maintenance work. Overall, the automotive industry is experiencing reduced demand in response to the 2nd lockdown.

The world is being transformed by new technologies, which are redefining customer expectations, enabling businesses to meet these new expectations, and changing
the way people live and work. Digital transformation, as this is commonly called, has immense potential to change consumer lives, create value for business and unlock
broader societal benefits.
The World Economic Forum launched the Digital Transformation Initiative in 2015, in collaboration with Accenture, to serve as the focal point for new opportunities and
themes arising from the latest developments in the digitalization of business and society. It supports the Forums broader activity around the theme of the Fourth
Industrial Revolution. Since its inception, the Initiative has analysed the impact of digital transformation across 13 industries and five cross-industry topics, to identify the
key themes that enable the value generated by digitalization to be captured for business and wider society. Drawing on these themes, we have developed a series of
imperatives for business and policy leaders that look to maximize the benefits of digitalization. We have engaged with more than 300 executives (both from leading
global firms and newer technology disruptors), government and policy leaders, and academics.
Every industry has its nuances and contextual differences, but they all share certain inhibitors to change. These include the innovators dilemma (the fear of
cannibalizing existing revenue models), low technology adoption rates across organizations, conservative organizational cultures, and regulatory issues. Business and
government leaders should continue to work towards addressing these challenges.
A notable outcome of this work is the development of our distinctive economic framework, which quantifies the impact of digitalization on industry and society. It can be
applied consistently at all levels of business and government to help unlock the estimated $100 trillion of value that digitalization could create over the next decade. We
have already started to leverage this framework for region-specific discussions with some governments.
We are confident that the findings from the Initiative will contribute to improving the state of the world through digital transformation, both for business and wider society.

The panelists included Dr. Attul Butte, Director of the Institute for Computational Health Science at the University of California San Francisco, Iya Khalil, Chief Commercial Officer and Co-founder of GNS Healthcare, Nathan Price, Associate Director of the Institute for Systems Biology and co-founder of Arivale, and Jackie Hunter, CEO of Benevolent AI
This analysis provides an overview of the top trends in the commercial banking sector as they shift to technology high gear to boost client efficiency and battle a volatile, uncertain, competitive, and evolving landscape.
First, it was retail banking. Now, advanced technology is shifting to and disrupting the commercial banking space. Many commercial banks, known for paperwork, red tape, and branch dependency, were unprepared to support clients during their post-COVID-19 ramp-up. But now, the digital pivot to new mindsets, partnerships, and processes is in overdrive.
As commercial banks grapple with competition from FinTechs, BigTechs, and alternative lenders, their inability
to fulfill SME demands and pandemic after-shocks necessitates transformative process changes and a move
to experiential, sustainable, and inclusive banking models. We expect banks to strive to meet the demands
of corporate clients and SMEs by digitally transforming critical workflows and improving client experience.
Additionally, incremental process improvements in the middle and back-office that leverage intelligent
automation will keep the competition at bay because engaged clients are loyal.
Adopting newer methods to mine data and moving to as-a-Service models will prepare commercial banks
to flexibly respond to newcomers and find ways to co-exist through effective collaboration. The time has come for commercial banks to put transformation on the fast track as lending losses in wallet and market share could spill over to other functions!
How incumbents react and respond to 2022 trends could determine their relevancy and resiliency in the years ahead.
Since last year ended on such a strong note, many of us were optimistic about the prospects for Q1. Though not as strong as the fourth quarter of 2014, the first quarter of 2015 kicked off on a positive note, with 23 technology companies raising US$6.1billion* in proceeds from their IPOs. Thats the second highest first quarter proceeds in the past five years and impressive given the increased US market volatility and consistent with the high pre-IPO valuations weve seen recently. Granted, if you look at the year over year comparison, offerings were down 12% and proceeds declined 11%. And sequentially, the number of technology IPOs declined 32% while proceeds fell by 19%. 2017 could be a pivotal year for logistics. Demand patterns are shifting, technological advances are altering industry economics, and new competitors are challenging old business models. This year could bring significant moves that reshape individual sectors and even the industry as a whole. Major business combinations, large-scale shifts in distribution flows, deep capacity cuts, massive infrastructure investmentsanything is possible. Here are the ten key takeaways from the 2017 State of Logistics report, as well as the four potential scenarios for the future of logistics.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) present us with novel and efficient ways to solve challenging and persistent problems, particularly when it comes to predictions. Retail, due to its fast moving, trend powered, and fluid nature coupled to an extended logistics chain, relies heavily on making smart predictions. As improvements in AI/ML over the last several years have proliferated, not only in performance advances but deployability, there are exciting openings for experimentation in many domains of the retail value chain

Value-based Healthcare today and tomorrow by Deloitte.DayOne

VBHC today and tomorrow
There is an increasing need for a value-based healthcare model based on holistic patient and health system outcomes, which can only be achieved through genuine collaboration between stakeholders. Value-based contracts require defining appropriate outcome measures, collecting and analyzing real-world data, and addressing challenges such as misaligned incentives among payers, providers, and pharmaceutical companies. The COVID-19 pandemic is likely to accelerate trends in healthcare such as greater emphasis on value-based care, data analytics, technology innovation, and patient engagement. Post-COVID, there are opportunities for life sciences companies to strengthen evidence of value, support health system capacity and digital adoption, and engage differently with regulators and payers.

This document discusses driving change for racial equity through a holistic approach that considers business drivers, internal factors, and external factors. It recommends addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion as business drivers by directly serving broader market segments, leveraging supplier diversity, and eliminating systemic bias. It also recommends deploying resources for social change by mitigating bias through equitable policies, creating an inclusive culture, and using influence to catalyze change. Quick wins are suggested in three areas: as business drivers by reviewing representation gaps, distribution commitments, and marketing practices; in teams and culture by analyzing representation metrics and embedding equity in processes; and with resources by pledging support and partnering with advocacy groups.
