Pregnant women in Rwanda often walk for miles and days to reach health clinics. With support from USAID and partners like Jhpiego, Rwandan health providers are offering antenatal care services to help reduce maternal and newborn deaths. More than 800 community health workers have been trained by Jhpiego, with support from USAID, to improve health services for mothers and children such as nutritional checks and feeding, as well as malaria prevention and treatment, with the goal of reducing maternal and newborn deaths in Rwanda.
